1049 - Why do I get an error that says "The filename format is incorrect, … long filenames are not supported ..."?

Is anyone aware of the following Aware file open message when running Windows 2000 and Aware 5.2 : "The filename format is incorrect, possibly because long filenames are not supported on this volume?" The file we are trying to open is 8.3 fromat.

Is the file on a network server? If so, and the path to the server is too long or has spaces in it, you may have to move the file to a local drive first, or move the files closer to the root of a drive.
