B1019 - How do I make sure the presentation window has finished updating before moving on?

by - Joseph Ganci

I suspect this isn't possible, but just in case, I want to be able to know when AW finishes painting the contents of a display icon. I am trying to ensure that my synchronization is working properly. I know you can synchronize when display icons paint using SyncPoint and SyncWait, but what I am trying to do is the opposite. I don't want my media starting until the contents are done painting. Is there a function that can provide me with that information?

Not that I know of, but if you want to be sure, place a Wait icon at the point you want to be sure and set it to a very small increment - 0.00001 (or, as Stefan van As points out, you can even leave empty). Any wait, no matter how small, will force Authorware to finish updating the screen.
