B8002 - How do I tell the name of the CD-ROM on a Macintosh?

by - Joseph Ganci

How do I detect whether I have a certain CD in my drive on the Mac. I've seen the examples but they all seem to be for the PC. Is there a thing called "CDDetect" a DLL or something? Does it come as an XCMD?

There are XCMDs that will tell you the name of the CD-ROM drive. However, you may try an internal Authorware solution that will work if you are running your application from a CD-ROM.

If you are, then you can use the FileLocation variable to know the name of the CD-ROM. Each character starting with the first and ending with but not including the first colon comprises the name of the CD-ROM:
    cdrom := SubStr(FileLocation, 1, find(":", FileLocation))
