There is no way to do it through the Target Area interaction (that I know of).  However, one approach I have used at times is to have any "put back" type responses set to "leave at destination" instead.  As part of the feedback, I will then use a Motion icon to move it back at the speed I desire.  Obviously a little more cumbersome, but it works when it's necessary.
